How do I stop random beep in Vista SP2?

I have tried all the methods that I can find. The command "net stop beep" says "system error 1060 occured" in the command window. I have gone to the device manager and under "non plug and play" there is no "beep option. Does anyone else have another solution. Muting the sounds or changing the sound scheme to none does not work also. It is driving me nuts!!! Also, the beep seems to be completely random and is not triggered by anything specific as far as I can tell.

If you have an optical drive, try disconnecting it for a while, to see if it might be causing the problem. You could try but the if the power supply is a older "high performance" power supply then it still might give low voltages. cd drives and fans don't use much voltage at all.
