How to use Yahoo Messenger account with pidgin in ubuntu 9.04? I have ubuntu 9.04 and i recently noticed that my yahoo account isn't working with pidgin messenger. I don't get any error with pidgin but still it doesn't connect my yahoo accounts... Can anyone help me please?? Thanks in advance...

Hey, thanks for replying... But i have been to those topics but that didn't help me. Any other solution? Please help me... I need to connect to the yahoo messenger accounts, but pidgin keeps on connecting without any successful attempts...

Ok, The problem is not with pidgin nor with yahoo, Pidgin use to connect yahoo accounts flawlessly. Yahoo updated their protocol and pidgin stayed as it is, you need to tweak and install pidgin again. Follow this method :
Open terminal and in terminal type :

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com \ 67265eb522bdd6b1c69e66ed7fb8bee0a1f196a8

Then type :

echo deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/pidgin-developers/ppa/ubuntu \ `lsb_release --short --codename` main | \sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pidgin-ppa.list

Then type :

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get -y install pidgin

It will then download and install pidgin with the tweak...
