Good Evening,
Here is really strange issue with my windows xp, everytime i login My Documents opens automatically, i haven't made any changes to start up settings and all then what can be the problem here? any advice would be greatly helpful to me.
Is it opening continuously? then it can be the virus or malware issue, which antivirus program you have installed? update your anitvirus and scan your full system for malicious things.
- May be your pc having a virus or malware. Download Norton Security Scan , its free. Perform a free virus scan.
- Also to make your pc free from spywares Download Ad-Aware
From when its happening? Have you tried system restore to the previous dates when your system was working fine? boot in safe mode and see if you still face this issue? also remove all unwanted programs from your startup. To do this Start-> Run-> "msconfig" and press enter then in Startup tab remove all unwanted applications that you doesn't want to get start on startup. Hope this will resolve your issue.
Users face this problem because of corrupted registry entry. TO resolve it do the following:
- Start -> Run -> enter "regedit" command.
- In Registry Editor navigate to following registry key:
HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/Windows NT/CurrentVersion/Winlogon- There should be a value called Userinit. The data for this value should be something similar to:
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,C:\windows\system 32\userinit.exe,
- If you do see a duplicated string in there similar to the above - simply double click on the Userinit value and edit the data so as to delete everything to the right of the first comma (,). In the case above you would leave only:
C:\windows\system32\userinit.exe,
- Exit registry edit and reboot. No more My Documents!
