Youtube and Facebook not working on ubuntu 9.04

Hello friends, I had Windows XP and recently i switched to Ubuntu on my other computer as Linux is a virus free Operating System. Well i noticed that in Firefox, Youtube and Facebook doesn't open videos and Applications. I think there is some Flash plugins issue but i don't know what could be done. Please advice on this guys...

Yeah, facebook applications and Youtube vidoes are both java based, so you need flash player plugin to be installed. Check if you have the latest flash player and if not download and install it and then restart firefox, that should fix the problem...

Flash plugin is required and also java runtime environment plugins are needed. Check if both plugins are installed and enabled. If this fails, then you might try updating firefox to the latest version. Then again install the compatible plugins. Hope this solves your problem...

I tried installing latest flash player plugin and java is also installed. But still everytime, facebook tells me to install a newer version of flash player. I do have the latest version but still it doesn't start, I will try to install the newest version of firefox itself... Thanks!
