Shortcut to mute sound in Linux Ubuntu

Hello , I have just Started using Linux Ubuntu , and noticed that there are no Shorcuts provided to mute the sound in linux , i have to go all the way through the menus to mute the audio , can you tell me it is possible to create a shortcut in linux ubuntu to mute the audio

In Ubuntu there is no keyboard shortcut to mute the Audio. But this does noy mean you cannot do it , you can create your own shortcut one by going to System > Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts. Once you are there, locate the Sound section and expand it by clicking on it. Then select the Volume mute option. Once you click on this option, you can then select the shortcut that will be used to mute the sound on your system.

If you do not have a keyboard with a special button to mute the volume, you can set the button that you want for it. In Ubuntu, click on the System menu> Preferences. Then click on the keyboard command shortcuts. In the window that opens, click the Mute line heading Her. Then press the button that lets you mute the sound, for example F12. Finally, click the Close button. When you press the F12 key, the sound is muted. Press again F12 to restore the volume.
