What is your Computer Configuration? I think according to the error, you have a 32-bit Ubuntu installed. Are you installing the correct softwares? You will need 32-bit software, 64-bit software cannot work on 32-bit platforms. Check if you are doing it wrong. Simply install software from terminal by typing :
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install <software-name>
    Hope this helps...

Re: Ubuntu Error : Application cannot be installed on your computer type (i386)

My computer is a Core 2 Duo system which supports 64-bit OS, but i have installed 32-bit ubuntu. I know i will not be able to run 64-bit software. I installed 32-bit Ubuntu as there is more software for 32-bit Os then 64-bit ones. I am trying to install 32-bit softwares but i still get the same error. Any help? Thanks!
