Disable the system tray volume control icon?

In my XP system tray there is twi speakers tray icons, one if my Creative Xtreme Music card and another of windows volume control, i want to disanble the windows one. But i can't find the option for it? any idea how can i do this?

Open up regedit.exe run box, and locate the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Now you have to create a new 32-bit DWORD value :

• 32-bit DWORD Name: NoTrayItemsDisplay
• Value: 1

Log off and Login back to see the changes, you won't find the system tray icon anymore.

Go into Control Panel -Locate Notification Area Icons - turn system icons on or off.

Do the following steps:

1. Open Control Panel
2. Double click on the Sounds and Audio Devices icon.
3. Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window will open.
4. At the center of the screen is a white box next to Place volume icon in the taskbar. To disable the speaker icon, simply remove the check mark from the white box.
5. Then click on the OK button
6. Close the Control Panel.
