| Unable to access the Computer Management
I do not know if it's a bug or not but when I right-click on My Computer, and I choose Manage, nothing happens! In fact I see something that starts but closes immediately. Through the control panel, there is no problems! Someone faced or had this bug already? Thank you |

| Re: Unable to access the Computer Management
Please read the following Microsoft KB that applies to Windows 2K however the same process should apply to XP: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;EN-US;q297064 Other then that you can try and do a System File Check, Start > Run > "SFC /SCANNOW" Windows System File Checker Tool: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;310747

Verify that the following conditions are true: Your Firewall will allow the Dmremote.exe process. TCP port 135 is open. How you perform this verification process depends on your particular firewall. For example, to do this in Windows Firewall, follow these steps: Click Start, click Run, type firewall.cpl, and then click OK. Click the Exceptions tab. Click Add Program, and then type C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmremote.exe. Click OK. Click Add Port. In the Name box, type TCP port 135. In the Port number box, type 135, click TCP, and then click OK two times. Click Start, click Run, type dcomcnfg, and then click OK. In the Component Services window, expand Component Services, and then click Computers. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. Click the COM Security tab. In the Access Permissions area, click Edit Limits. Click ANONYMOUS LOGON. In the bottom pane, click to select the Remote Access check box in the Allow column, and then click OK. In the Launch and Activation Permissions area, click Edit Limits. Click Everyone, and then in the Allow column, click to select the Remote Launch and Remote Activation check boxes. Click OK two times, and then restart the computer. More information here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/902430

If you are on Vista and if you turned off UAC then turn it back on. Open the Help and Support app and search on 'UAC OFF'. It's always possible some kind of Malware has changed the file association for *.msc. Since you know its name, you should have no problem running the command: MMC compmgmt.msc |
