Code 5 can also occur when the CD's boot sector is corrupted. Make sure that you use a proper boot file.
If you do not have success, then perhaps your CD-R media are to blame. Poor quality CD & difficulty with the media tend to have their boot sectors problem. It's not always the case, but it's been known to happen, your code 5 error.

Already suggested it, here it is again:
    * Be sure good CD, though, is unscratched, etc.
    * Then be sure the CD drive is good.
    * Connect to another computer or connect it with a different CD drive.
    * Also, be sure that all cable connections in their switches are fully depressed. You, the cables themselves can swap.
    I'll add one to another:
    * Check the pins on the switch of wind on both the main board as the CD drive. Be sure nothing is bent or missing.

Theres loads of pages on google for this error....
It seems as if this is a case of the cd or dvd losing or corrupting the iso image, i.e. is it scratched or been stored in an odd place of sorts? Win7 works pretty smooth on a P4 2.0Ghz with 1GB Ram & onboard video.
My best friend just called me. He can 't install XP on his computer because he gets a "Can not initialize CD - code 4 " What seems to be related to BIOS
