How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7

Hello,

I have Windows Xp, I wonder if making the upgrade to Windows 7, Is the intermediate migration to Vista essential because the upgrade option to Windows 7 is available only from windows Vista and not from win XP? Thank you for your responses.

Re: How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7

An upgrade from Windows XP to Windows Vista should be considered by companies that should not only consider migrating directly to Windows 7. Several arguments to support this choice, even if we remember that Microsoft is customary because each new major release of an OS, some software vendors may terminate their support in XP before the arrival of Windows 7, as Windows Vista and 7 share the same fundamental upgrade between the two OS will be more easy and safe deployment of a new PC with Windows Vista is less expensive than installing Windows XP to install the latest Windows 7.

Re: How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7

The virtualization solution offered in Windows 7 is composed of two elements: Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode.

Windows XP Mode is designed to provide small and medium enterprises implementing Windows XP Professional (with SP3 or higher) completely free and discharged. Mode With Windows XP can run in a virtualized environment, productivity applications developed natively for Windows XP from the desktop Windows 7.

The requirements for installation are:
- Windows XP Mode only be run on Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise.
- Requires Windows XP Mode is 2GB disk space
- Is 15GB disk space for Windows virtual environment

Re: How to migrate from Windows XP to Windows 7

If you require an upgrade in place, preserving the applications installed and configuration, can not do that with an upgrade from windows XP to Windows 7. However, XP using qualifies for an upgrade license Windows 7, but you must make a "custom" (basically a clean) install, I would not mind to upgrade XP to Vista, and Vista to Win7, but is possible.
