I have too have the same problem, and i have not found any way to solve this, and i couldn't format my disk when this problem started as i have a lot of important data. I too need a solution to this problem, but till that time, i just skip the disk check at start up. But any solution would be helpful...
Ok, Go to Start Menu > Run and type 'cmd'. When the command prompt opens, type "fsutil dirty query c:" replace 'c' in the command with the disk which is checked at startup. Do post back what happens after this step. All the best!
I think this is happening because your hard disk is too old. Are there any bad clusters on this disk of yours? Check it out. Or you can try to clean install windows 7 from scratch as this may be caused due to drive inconsistency. See what applies to your hard disk. First try the above step. [Recommended]
