    Upgrading OpenSuse10.1 to OpenSuse11.2 possible?

    Upgrading OpenSuse10.1 to OpenSuse11.2 possible? I have a semi-old computer, with Open Suse 10.1 and i haven't upgraded it then, but now i have downloaded, the OpenSuse 11.2 and i want to install it on this system. Can i upgrade my system with the DVD from OpenSuse10.1 to OpenSuse11.2? Please help guys...

    According to me, thats not possible as there are so many features that are totally new and now there is a provision for seperate partition for /home directory, and many more features which were not available in the past versions of OpenSuse. Hope this helps...

    Yeah thats true, the new features that are added since the 10 series makes it difficult for upgrading and not the features which are updated, Also the directory structure has changed. Also in the latest version the Linux kernel itself has changes, so now you cannot even compile the other packages with your older kernel... Its better to do a clean install. Be careful and take a backup of your data...

    There have been changes and new features added in partition scheme, linux kernel and more over the default FileSystem is EXT4 while in the older versions, it was EXT3. So the basic idea of upgrading will gradually not work as everybody suggested. So you must go with a new clean install... All the best!
