Windows 7 Gadgets

Hi i got windows 7 and i wana use the gadgets that i downloaded from the microsoft site but when i download them it doesnt detect that its a gadget and when i set it to open with windows destop gadget it does nothing.
but i put it on a school laptop we got and it works fine can anyone help me?

Click on start and type regedit on search bar > open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Sidebar\Settings > Right Click in right pan of registry editor to Create A New DWORD(32 Bit Value) with name “AllowElevatedProcess” and set value as “1”. > Now close registry editor > Right click on desktop and add desktop gadgets to confirm Desktop gadget and sidebar working properly.

dw i found out how u just have to fix up an extention file and change it's data to Windows.gadget

In order to get rid of the above issue, you need to check the Windows Gadget Platform box, and then need to click on OK. This is caused by a bug (or feature) in the Sidebar : clicking on partially transparent parts of a gadget doesn't fire any event that the developer can intercept.
