I think you need buy a genuine copy of Windows 7 first, then install it from by booting from the windows 7 DVD. Use bootcamp to format Windows partition and then install Windows 7 afresh. Windows XP to Windows 7 upgrade is not possible. Also the softwares installed on Windows XP wont work with Windows 7. There are very few Windows XP softwares that are compatible with windows 7. Hope this is usefull...

Are there bootcamp drivers for Windows 7? I tried searching for it but couldn't find it. Also if there is something important regarding the OS installation of which i should take care of? I'm not used to installing Windows OS and i don't want to screw my Mac...

You have to format the current windows partition, so just make sure you take backup of your important data. And for the drivers, don't install if its working already, Only install drivers for the hardware which aren't working or else you may end up screwing the windows install... Hope this is useful...
