Check a drive errors on Windows 7

hi
i have install windows 7 on PATA hard drive but now problem is its giving jerk while operating not smooth hangs at some moment where considering to minimum system i have more than that but facing problem so looks like problem due to that old PATA hard disk now i want to know how i can remove drive errors on Windows 7 in case hard disk is faulty .

For all windows check disk utility access can be done in same way like Go to Computer > Right click on the drive > click on Properties > Select Tools tab > Under Error-checking select Check Now check here for more How to check hard disks for errors - Windows XP

with windows check box you can have three options:

• automatically repair problems That will Automatically fix file system errors.
  
• perform a thorough check, That will attempt recovery of bad sectors and repair physical errors on the drive but takes much longer time to complete.
  
• Check for both errors select both Automatically fix system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

You can use any third party application that can be support and able to work on windows 7 else there is option HDDregenrator that will need to create bootable disk and wrok from das but effective to recover bad sectors from disk
