Trying to change some reg key permissions but am encountering the message "cannot save permission changes"

Coming back to your problem. Can you tell us what exactly you are trying to change?

Do you have enough permissions?

Trying to clear the Registry of any references to a deleted file but in many I get the message: "cannot save permission changes"

What changes are you attempting to make ?. I assume your in an admin account right ? Have you tried starting regedit via right click run as admin.and make sure that group has full read/write access to the key. If the interface brings you guff about not having right to save because you are not the owner, Click the Advanced button, select the Owner tab, and make sure Administrator and any other users you added are listed as owners
