Internal Failure: Error Number 0x80040707

Hi,

I recently was playing on my computer and when i tried to move songs to my ipod i got an error saying that the ipod could not be updated, gives error saying, "Internal Failure. Error number 0X80040707" I am running Windows XP with Office 2003. Any idea about the reasons ?

The value is determined by Installshield SUPPORTDIR internally before the beginning of your script. The error occurs before the beginning of your script, so nothing of what they are doing wrong. Both DosExecPgm and 0x80040707 errors are different symptoms of the same cause. The exact cause is still unknown and there is no real answer or solution.

Check the following things :

1. Right click on the shortcut, click on run as, and uncheck the "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized..."

2. check the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Shell Folders to be sure all the paths are correct.

I understand that some of the installation processes created wrong entries in the registry. you need to download new version of Windows Installer or you can do is login as Administrator only when you boot in safemode and install the latest pack for for your windows version.
