Post Can I make Windows 7 iso/DVD from files spread on the notebook

I have recently purchased notebook that comes with windows7 Homebasic sp1 but without installation disc. But the retailer told I just need to take system image on DVD and I can use it for any restoration or reinstallation purpose in the event of any crash/virus attack. Product key anyway is specified in the Box. I believed it and purchased it.

I tried this from Login menu -
Getting Started->backup your files-> Create system image link.

Now I am not able to make a ISO file of this image which is huge around 15GB. The image so created by win7 just has few files and one .vhd file which is huge size of 16gb.

Please suggest ways to get an ISO image which I can write to a DVD, if is this possible in Windows7.

It is not really possible to create a bootable windows disc via your existing windows system. But you can create a Windows Image file by using norton ghost. Norton Ghost copies your entire Windows directory that is the C drive and softwares installed in on multiple DVD's. This are bootable disc. Anytime when your system crashes or stopped working you can insert that disc and restore your system.

Thanks for your reply and the link. I have gone thru the same.

I have XP professional in my PC and I could make ISO file as the installation CD are given to me. I slipstreamed upto sp3 and was just fine on just one CD.
But my troubles with Windows7 just started ! I have few queries here -

Does the Nortonghost create a single dvd or multiple dvds. Will that pose a problem in restoring from multiple discs in the event of a system failure, crash?
btw, whats the actual size of win7 HB OS?
