There are a lot of OS Based on Ubuntu an related to it. Ubuntu is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, presentation, document and spreadsheet software, instant messaging and much more. Then comes Kubuntu. Kubuntu is a free, user-friendly operating system based on the K Desktop Environment and on the award winning Ubuntu operating system. With a biannual release cycle and at least 18 months of free security updates for each release, it is the secure, stable computing environment you've been waiting for.

Yeah there are a lot of derivatives of Ubuntu itself. Like there is thi one more known as Mythbuntu. Mythbuntu is an community supported add-on for Ubuntu focused upon setting up a standalone MythTV based PVR system. It can be used to prepare a standalone system or for integration with an existing MythTV network. Unlike similar projects, Mythbuntu keeps close ties with Ubuntu and all development is given back to Ubuntu. This architecture allows simple conversions from a standard desktop to a Mythbuntu machine and vice versa. The development cycle of Mythbuntu closely follows that of Ubuntu, releasing every six months with Ubuntu releases. Then there is Xubuntu which has XFCE as its desktop environment. Xubuntu is a community developed, Linux-based operating system that is perfect for laptops, desktops and servers. It contains all the applications you need - a web browser, document and spreadsheet editing software, instant messaging and much more...

Re: Ubuntu like Linux Operating Systems and its derivatives

There are lot more like : nUbuntu, LinuxMint, Poseidon Linux, Ubuntu NetBook Remix, Super OS, etc.

nUbuntu : The main goal of nUbuntu is to create a distribution which is derived from the Ubuntu distribution, and add packages related to security testing and remove unneeded packages. nUbuntu is the result of an idea two people had to create a new distribution for the learning experience back in early 2006, when Ubuntu was in its still early stages. nUbuntu started many years ago as a project with the intent for its developers to learn about distribution development and quickly evolved into a full scale project after recieving a large community response. Currently today, we have many developers and a large contributing communinty. Anyone interested in helping may do so by contributing ideas and packages directly to the nUbuntu developers.

LinuxMint : Linux Mint is an operating system for personal computers, based on Ubuntu, with integrated media codecs. Mint also has design differences from Ubuntu, including: A distinct user interface, including the custom Mint menu. The Mint Tools, a collection of system tools designed to make system management and administration easier for end users. As of Linux Mint 6 'Felicia', a Windows installer is included as one of the installation methods. mint4win, a rebranded version of Wubi. It is activated when the CD is inserted into a computer under Windows, providing AutoRun is enabled. Linux Mint is available for download in the form of ISO images, which can be used to create Live CDs or Live USBs.

Posoeidon : Poseidon Linux is an operating system, originally based on Kurumin, now based on Ubuntu. It is developed and maintained by a team of young scientists from the Rio Grande Federal University Foundation in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The name derives from the large number of oceanologists involved in the development of the system. It contains many free software programs used by scientists, such as the Fortran programming language, Kile and Lyx for scientific writing, numerical modeling, 2D/3D/4D visualization, statistics, and several tools that support GIS and mapping, along with day-by-day utilities like OpenOffice.org, multimedia, etc. Due to its wide acceptance also outside the Portuguese-speaking scientific community and to the eventual shut down of the Kurumin project, the Poseidon project has changed the base distribution to Ubuntu, also to provide versions in Portuguese, Spanish, English and German. The core of Poseidon is always Debian due to the higher stability and great amount of software available into the repository sites.

Super OS : Super OS formerly known as Super Ubuntu is a freely-available Linux distribution. It is a remastered version of Ubuntu made with reconstructor. Its main goal is to provide an ‘Out of the Box’ experience, containing various enhancements over Ubuntu. It has the goal of remaining compatible with Ubuntu.

Ubuntu Netbook Remix : Ubuntu Netbook Remix (UNR) is a 'remix' of the standard Ubuntu Desktop release to enable it to work better on netbooks or devices with small screens and is optimized for use with the Intel Atom processor. The packages that make up UNR will work on the respective 8.04, 8.10 or 9.04 installation. UNR is an optional preinstalled Operating System (OS) on some netbooks such as Dell Inspiron Mini 10v and the Toshiba NB100 as well as running on popular models such as the Acer Aspire One and the ASUS Eee PC.
