Try Scan disk, to do this, click the drive in My Computer. Select Properties. In the Properties box, select Tools. Under Error-checking, click Check Now. In the Options box, check disk, check "Automatically fix file system mistakes "and" Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors ". Click Start. Windows will tell you can not because the unit is in use, and asks if you want to do when you reboot. Say yes, and reboot. Windows run CHKDSK when you boot, before the GUI is loaded and have exclusive access to the unit.

Re: I/O error status of 0xc000009a

I am facing the same error on my D drive. My pc will completely lock up and I have to restart my computer but after that windows will not boot. I then have to run recovery via the Windows CD so that I can do the chkdsk /p on C drive. It will fix the errors and Windows will load again but when I check the event viewer then I am getting the same error message again. Is there any other solution for this issue? Thanks
