Can not hide hidden files in windows XP

Hi,

I am having problem from yesterday that I could not see hidden files as a time up here, in the menu to select that action, or re-hide them and never left,while searching on internet I come to know that it was due to a virus that infected hard drives or something and I tried a script to remove the virus. but nothing happen can some one help me ?

If machine still contains errors, try a basic scan of your system. scan your pc by BitDefender Online Scanner - http://www.bitdefender.com/scanner/online/free.html . It's online, close all applications and you run it with Internet Explorer

Open Start, Run, type regedit and click OK.

Get the key

HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced \ Folder \ Hidden \ NOHIDDEN.

Check that the values DefaultValue CheckedValue and contain the right path 2.

Get the key
HKLM \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced \ Folder \ Hidden \ SHOWALL.

Check that the value CheckedValue containing 1 and DefaultValue containing 2. Modify them if it were not so.

Check:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced.

Inside there looking for the Hidden value and leave it at 1.


Click on File, Exit, Restart and activates the option if necessary to see hidden files.

Note: HKLM stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
