Dial up connection on Ubuntu 9.04?

I have a problem i hope you guys here could help me with it. I have installed Ubuntu on my computer it just works great. Being a noob i lost all my data

Well, now i want to connect to the internet through a traditional method using a dialup connection. Is it possible to create a Dial up connection on Ubuntu 9.04? Please help the n00b guys...

Yes you can connect to the internet through dialup connection on ubuntu but you will need pppd to establish a dialup connection. Download and configure pppd or wvdial whichever you think appropriate. You can download the pppd or wvdial by typing the following in the terminal :

sudo apt-get install pppd

sudo apt-get install wvdial

Well i have downloaded wvdial and configured it properly according to me. But when i run wvdial or gnome-pppd i get an error which is something like this :

error fetching interface information: Device not found

What is causing this problem? Please help...

Well the error says it couldn't find the device. That means your hardware is not detected, or if it is detected, its drivers are not installed. Try to install its driver and configure the pppd or wvdial again and it will get you through... All the best!
