I'm not sure about this but you could try and repair Ubuntu installation as we repair windows from the boot CD. Have you tried that? Boot from Ubuntu CD and see if you get any option to do so... Hope this helps...

Re: Use GRUB as default boot loader

I already tried booting from the Ubuntu CD but i didn't get any option to repair ubuntu. On the first screen i get some various option for booting system with live cd with different options and one for installing the OS. I even tried getting into the Installation option but canceled when it reached when we need to select the installation software. I couldn't found the repair option which is why i'm worried. Please help guys...

Ok, i had this problem i overcame it successfully. Just follow the steps and don't miss any steps or you may end up screwing your system.
Boot from Ubuntu disc and select the first option to load the live cd without changing system.
Once the system boots open terminal and type :
    Code:
    find /boot/grub/stage1
Now i will assume your windows is installed in first partition and ubuntu on second partition
Type the following in terminal as root for the above setup :
    Code:
    root (hd0,1)
    setup (hd0)
    quit
Reboot your computer you're done with it...
