Traffic Monitor on Ubuntu?

I have installed ubuntu and i spend a lot of time on the internet. I have been using traffic softwares like DUMeter and Netmeter on Windows OS. Is there any similar software for Traffic Monitor on Ubuntu? Please help... Thanks in advance...

Install Wine and then install dumeter or netmeter. That would be easy for you as you are familiar with those softwares.. Have a look at this for help with wine : Wine Installation on Ubuntu 8.10 Hope this helps...

You can use gnome applets Network Monitor and System Monitor.
Add to Panel these applets. Network Monitor and System Monitor are both nice simple to use and similar to DUMeter. Do the following :

Right-Click on the top panel > add to panel > Network Monitor
Right-Click on the top panel > add to panel > System Monitor

You can use vnstat. Its a nice tool. Open Terminal and type :
To install :

apt-get install vnstat

To use it for a specific interface :

vnstat -u -i eth0

You can change eth0 for your interface.
