Turn on modem sound in windows xp

I am using comcast modem to access internet, when i connect this modem with windows xp computer it does not make a sound (dialing and handshaking). How do I turn the sound on? Can nay one tell me how to turn on modem sound in windows xp?

To turn on modem sound in windows xp go to Control Panel>Modem>Properties>Modem Speaker >Turn it on or off. If your computer in dial-up networking then go to dial-up networking ,right click on your modem and you should see an option for volume.

Go to your Start menu, then Control Panel.Double click the (sound) Phone and Modems Options. Click the Modems tab, click the Properties button. Move the cursor over "Volume" option, set the volume as per the requirement then click "OK". Modems screen will save your new sound settings which should now be turned on.

Have you muted it in volume controls and control panel\modem properties?I fno then try this setting : Right click your internet connection and select the properties. Under the modem tab, check configuration and you should find a box to check on/off to have the modem use the speakers.
