Vista with 2007 office

I have Visat and recently installed office 2007. Since then when explorer opens a window it seems as both systems are trying to operate at the same time and everything slows down. Is there a way to disengage the 2007 and only use it for spreadsheets, etc...

There is no such way but try this add more parameter %1 for all file type of Excel in the OPEN settings
try this
Start Windows Explorer
go to Folder Options
then to File Types
Select XLS in the list
go to Advanced
Click Open i
Click Edit
add %1 after /e in the box Application used to perform action:

also remove unnecessary application from background by using maconfig

If you feel that Windows Vista is working slow on your system then you can customize it by using Vlite. Vlite is a freeware tool which is used to customize Windows Vista by removing unnecessary programs. This boost up your system performance. First of all Windows Office 2007 works only when you launch Word or Excel. It does not make your system slow. There can be some other services in the background which is eating up your system resource. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del from the keyboard and under process tab check which service is using more memory. Search for the detail information about it and if necessary stop it.
