Re: Gadgets won’t appear in Windows 7 Sidebar

You will need to have UAC turned on for Gadgets to work in Windows 7.When the UAC (User Account Control) in Windows 7 is disabled or set to no notify, the gadgets stop working. So if you have disabled UAC even accidentally, then enable it. Also if you created an archive with .gadget extension, make sure all files are in the root directory of that archive.

For more step by step info, just go through this link:-
Enable and disable windows sidebar program in Windows 7

Re: Gadgets won’t appear in Windows 7 Sidebar

If you have disabled User Access Control , your sidebar gadgets will get disappeared. In case you need the Sidebar with the disabled UAC, than you need to do some changes in registry editor. Here it is:-
  1. Run REGEDIT, Locate HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Sidebar\Settings,
  2. Create a new DWORD value called AllowElevatedProcess and set it to 1.

Gadgets are not working when UAC is turned off. To enable UAC, go to User Accounts and click on “Turn User Account Control on or off”. For mote information, just see this post: Windows 7 Gadgets won't work
