Defrag not working with XP SP3

Hi,

I have this problem only after installing SP3 on my XP machine. Since installing SP3 RC2, the device will not have a Defrag Analysis or Defragment function. If I unistall the SP3 its fine. Have any thoughts on how to get it work?

I'm running Windows defrag. I've tried check disc without any success, although I can try again, and look to see whether for any errors as the most suggest. I also ran scannow sfc now without any luck one of them in operation. chkdsk errors only, or should the manual would be made to confirm? as the former, then it's that not to do anything to change the situation and I've also done a disk clean, there's a few gig free so I figure this
should be enough to defrag?

Try different antivirus. Avira (free) AntiVir is my choice. Try third party defrager. Many are better than the Windows defrager. My personal favorite is UltimateDefrag.

IMO, inability to run defrag ... was a problem with XP or a problem with the hard drive modes. It would be a manufacturer in activation as typical on the hard drive. If satisfaction is still not achieved. I would sfc / scannow on XP (using slipstreamed CD to include SP3) or I would do a repair install of XP that activation (CD with slipstreamed to SP3 include).
OR set memory command chkdsk / f in effect. (say yes, then reboot) Hopefully this will improve the problem.
