HP unmountable boot volume

My friend is having HP laptop with him and he has install Windows XP as his operating system from few days he is not able to boot his laptop so he has came to me to find out the issue. So i try to first start the windows in safe mode i was able to do it, but when i try to start up in Recovery Console over here i am getting i am getting the following message as UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME and STOP: 0x000000ED (0x856CC9E0, 0xC0000006, 0x0000000, 0x0000000). Can anyone tell me what should i do to fix this issue ?

I was also facing such kind of issue i called up Hp service support and told them about the error message they told me that error message can mean it's a physical error with the Hard Drive, make sure hat the Hard Drive's physical connections are still intact because it might happen that there might be loss connection because of which you are getting error message.

I have try to do that too but still facing same issue, i don't know what would be the issue and i need to fix this issue as soon as possible because i have recovery console working since i have some work with it. Is there any other solution by which i won't get this message.
