It Says Installing Updates but never shuts down
I have a windows xp home sp2 machine which says "Installing Updates" but it never shuts down. Should I power it off or what? The problem is that update 1 of 15 is still installing after five hours!

Which Updates you are Installing ? if that is for windows then make sure you have genuine windows key and another thing is check for firewall setting as that not blocking update procedure
ok, thanks. I turned it off by holding down the power button as it wouldn't respond, and it came up just fine. When I rebooted the only update listed under auto updates was SP3, which I didn't want to install, but after another reboot the original 15 updates are there:confused:
The computer did have some spyware on it.
No updates have been installed.
Go to control panel > open security center > at bottom see automatic update open it > select turn off automatic updates .
now click on start > run > type msconfig > window will open go to SERVICES tab and scroll down at end you will find two option :
- Security center
- Automatic update
UNCHECK THEM and restart
now install spybot or antimalwarebye and scan pc if you have antivirus update it and scan for viruses
