How to check if mencoder is installed or not?

How to check if mencoder is installed or not? I have some problem with a video editor software and it keeps on saying mencoder is missing. Where do i download it from? I don't know if it already exist on my system. So please help me guys...

Which linux distribution do you use? Well in my understanding if you have a GUI package manager you can search in it for mencoder package. What do you get when you search it in there? Also post the OS distro you use. And also post which multimedia player do you use?

I have installed OpenSuse and mplayer and i don't know what else to mention. I have checked to package manager but i cannot find it anywhere, also i tried searching through directories but i did not get it anywhere... so it doesn't exist on my system how do i install it? Please help...

Open terminal and as root type :

yum install mplayer subtitleeditor vlc mencoder audacity

Now this will install all the packages necessary including mencoder...
