Have you checked with the error properly? Does it mention any library or dependency missing or not installed or something similar to that? I had this kind of problem a short time back, it told me that libphp4.so is creating a conflict or something so i had to install some new dependency and had to make some changes in httpd.conf file. I don't remember what exactly i did but the problem was solved...

Try to uninstall the older versions of php and apache and install the newer versions. I have apache 2 working along with php 5 and i have no problems with it. I recently upgraded both the packages and i was in trouble but after some configuration changes in the httpd.conf file, everything was fine...

I have PHP 4 and apache 1. I will try and see if the error has something else mentioned just to be sure and will post back, thanks for the anwser Solomon. If this doesn't work, i will uninstall and install the newer versions of the packages, Well as far as this works, i would avoid updating as i have the most stable configuration and i don't want to screw the system's stability and integrity... Thanks for the replies...
