Can I download Windows Vista for free

I am using Windows Xp since long time and now planning to go with Windows Vista. One of my friend has a bought a copy of Vista SP1 some couple of months ago but now we are unable to find the installation CD. SO i tried to download it but can not get the free ISO. So i am here to get help from you all guys. can i download windows Vista for free from internet ? If yes, where ? Please help.

Windows Vista SP1 addresses specific reliability and performance issues, supports new types of hardware, and adds support for several emerging standards. SP1 also will continue to make it easier for IT administrators to deploy and manage Windows Vista. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone version can be installed on systems with any of the following language versions: English (US), French, German, Japanese, or Spanish.

You can also install Windows Vista by using Windows Update. If your computer is set to automatically install updates, you will be prompted by Windows Update to install SP1. Follow the instructions on the screen. If you are not prompted to install SP1, follow these steps:

• Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
  
  
• Click the Start button , click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.
  
  
• In the left pane, click Check for updates.
