PCM or BitStream when using Analog Input

What is exactly the difference between Bitstream against Linear PCM? … the two options that it has to choose the hour to choose HDMI Exit of audio from the adjustments. What is exactly what I need to choose in order that the sound leaves to the form in which it must? Linear PCM non necessity to be chosen so that the tracks of sound PCM from a Blu-ray disc for the exit in its optimal one?

Bitstream is basically the raw material undecided data that are sent to the receiver so that it can decode. PCM means that the PS3 is the conversion to PCM and to send it to the receiver that almost all the receivers to understand. HDMI has the bandwidth of 8 channels of audio PCM without compression, whereas it only has optical capacity of 2 channels of audio without compressing.

If he establishes that the player goes to PCM to decode DD and/or DTS soon 5,1 and to Downmix 2 channels PCM. Matrix, like the decoders of surrounding sound DTS and PLII: Neo6 that can take from 2 channels PCM signal and turn it into 5.1. If it cannot use first PLII or any other decoder it is because the receiver is in pure direct way; to change to the ways stereo and would have to be available. If it connects the reproducer of DVD to the receiver using the 5.1 analogical entrances in the receiver, then it will not work, because the receivers not to make the processing of the consumptions. Then… if the reproducer is fit to PCM and to make a digital connection from the reproducer to the entrance of the DVD receiver or to make an analogical connection from the reproducer to the entrance of the receiver of DVD and puts the receiver in any way that is not pure direct, you will be able to choose anyone of the decoders to turn the matrix of the PCM of 2 channels into surrounding sound.

Re: PCM or BitStream when using Analog Input

You can think about the track like a DD. Zip in your computer and the PCM like a file. Wav in its PC. Sound wav (PCM) reason why at some time is necessary to decompress the DD in a track PCM stream, in order to reproduce it. Configuration of the PS3 does that the bit stream to send whatever PS3 in the disc for the receiver, where linear establishment PCM causes that they become to PCM the reproducer before sending it to the receiver. Therefore, when the track of sound PCM reproduces, the receiver is PCM, independent of the configuration. It is possible that it wishes to leave the establishment in order Bitstream as you know, at least, when you are using accidentally the DD sound track because its receiver will say to him. In terms of volume, this is independent of the compression. It will make that the compression of quality sound/clarity fall, but still it can be registered in a much greater volume to give the bad quality him of very high sound, but in comparison with the band of sound PCM.
