Are the differences between these two service packs all behind the scenes or is there anything visible?

Windows XP SP2 is safer than Windows XP SP1. That means it has much more security features to protect your data and information. According to a test Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 is faster as compare to the second edition. That means on a same system configuration SP1 will run more faster than SP2. Both operating same system are same but the only major difference is that the second edition has some additional security.
