    Configure Autoplay With TweakUI

I need some information on auto-play feature in Windows xp. This feature is activated after inserting any cd or dvd or any portable device, is there any way to disable autoplay feature in windows?

Open "My Computer", right-click the drive, "Properties", "Auto Play" tab, select each of the content types, check the box, "Select an action to perform", select "Take no action", "Apply" and "OK" when done. Another way is Go to Start > Run > type GPEDIT.MSC > Go to Computer Configuration > in Group Policy window select Administrative Templates > Locate the entry for Turn autoplay off on your right panel > You need to double click on that entry and the default is the Not configured . Set it to Enabled for all devices and click on ok. TweakUI also disable autoplay. After installing TweakUI you need to deselect drive which you want disable as auto play.

    • Click Start, type Gpedit.msc in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
    • If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
    • Under Computer Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, expand Windows Components, and then click Autoplay Policies.
    • In the Details pane, double-click Turn off Autoplay.
    • Click Enabled, and then select All drives in the Turn off Autoplay box to disable Autorun on all drives.
    • Restart the computer.
