    System crashes due to NTFS.sys

I am having some problem with my Windows XP computer. I am getting a strange BSOD with a crash. Windows reports that the error occurred because of NTFS.sys. Is there anyone who can fix NTFS.sys causing system crash problem?

    System Spec:

    Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AM3 Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 Processor
ATI Radeon HD 4830 graphic card
    2 GB RAM

Couple of things that you can try out. Try to boot from your Windows CD to Recovery Console and run a "chkdsk /r" to repair your Windows installation. Also try running the system file checker to see if some system files are corrupted. Do you also receive any other error message along with the BSOD?

BSOD is related to hardware issue. Generally you also receive some error codes along with the BSOD. What was the error code? Try out some of the solutions if possible:

I doubt your ntfs.sys file is missing or corrupted. Replace the missing or corrupted Ntfs.sys file as follows:

    1. Use Windows XP CD to restart your computer.
    2. When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to repair Windows installation using Recovery Console.
    3. Type the administrator password when you are prompted, and then press ENTER.
    4. At the command prompt, type the following commands (press ENTER after each command):
    cd \windows\system32\drivers
    ren ntfs.sys ntfs.old
    5. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    copy cd:\i386\ntfs.sys drive:\windows\system32\drivers
Where "cd" is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive that contains the Windows XP CD, and "drive" is the drive where you installed Windows XP.
    6. Remove the Windows XP CD from your CD-ROM drive, type quit at a command prompt, and then press ENTER to quit the Recovery Console.
    7. Restart the computer.
