Linksys pcmcia cards compatible with netgear router

Are Linksys pcmcia cards compatible with netgear router? I have some problem with my Ubuntu laptop when i'm using the wifi connection. The connection sometimes drop and sometimes stay but i cannot surf the internet... Any more suggestions? This is an old laptop. What can be done? Please help...

Well, as far as i know, compatibility doesn't matter. There must be something else wrong, Try to update the wifi card's drivers, may be that could solve the problem. Is your OS up to date? Try upgrading your Ubuntu and may be it will be able to fix the problem...

I think your driver may cause problem. If you are using the manufacturer's driver, try switching to ndiswrapper. ndiswrapper performs better then any other driver on ubuntu... Do post back what happens...

Will try removing my driver and using ndiswrapper. If i get any problem, will post back... Thanks for taking time and replying... I will also try updating my ubuntu, I have not updated it since a long time...
