    Limit of number of users in linux

    Hi guys, Its been a great pleasure to be in touch with this site. Well i have one more noob questions, hope you guys won't laugh. I want to know what is maximum limit of number of users in linux?

    The maximum number of users that a linux operating system can have is distribution independent and it depends on the linux kernel, the maximum numbers of PID that could be created on linux kernel 2.4 was 65535.

    The Linux Kernel 2.6 has the capacity to allow 4 billion users. Linux kernel 2.4 had the capacity of 65535 as said by Rudra.J.

    Thanks guys, i did not knew that it depends on the kernel version, i always thought that it depends on the distribution you are using, thanks for the information...
