Virtual memory is a computer system technique which gives an application program the impression that it has contiguous working memory, Virtual Memory is simply the operating system using some amount of disk space as if it were real memory. The purpose of virtual memory is to enlarge the address space, the set of addresses a program can utilize.
Virtual memory is a portion of your hard disk that is set apart to handle when your "real" memory is not large enough to hold all the information and applications you are running. You can find available virtual memory on your computer by following method : Right click on MY COMPUTER. Then pick PROPERTIES. Click on the ADVANCED tab and then click on the PERFORMANCE button. This will show you how much of your hard drive will be used for Virtual memory if you need any.
Right click my Computer -> Properties -> 'Advanced' tab -> Performance 'Settings' button -> 'Advanced' tab -> under the Virtual Memory section click the 'Change' button. You can manage the amount of memory you would like to allocate for Virtual memory by entering the initial and maximum size.
