    Msiexec.exe 100% CPU hog

    Hello everyone,

Recently i noticed during start up my computer has become increasingly slow.Lately i figured out msiexec is sucking up 80-90% of CPU resources,
rendering my system useless until msiexec decides to go away. why is msiexec running, when I am not trying to install anything? how can i prevent this..guess any one can guide me.

    thanks for any help...

You can set that to manual or automatic, or disable it from your msconfig for this
Start > Run > type in "msconfig" Look in the services tab and see if it is in there.Try disabling it and restarting and see if it goes away then. You may need to re-enable it at some point, so make a mental note that if an installation doesn't work to try starting it again.

Remove all Temporary Files, uninstall older versions of Java if you have on your computer. Install CCleaner. After you have done the initial scanning with CCleaner, get and install a full-featured antivirus. Update its definitions and do a thorough scan in Safe Mode. Again, you should get all applications and updates from a different, known-clean computer since you should still be working in Safe Mode, not online or connected to a LAN.
