CDgone patch

Hi, MY CD drive is no longer available in explorer, and it doesn't appears in Device manager too, BIOS finds the drive but Windows doesn't. So as i talked this situation with my cousin, he said me to download the CDgone patch and it will resolve the issue, but as i'm searching for this patch on yahoo, i can't find the place to download it, i find it on torrents but can't trust them as they may contain virus and malwares etc, If anyone having this patch please upload it here, i'm sure it won't be of much big size, awaiting for help. Thanking you.

Don't know about the CDgone patch but there are several ways to resolve this problem.

Do the following:

Go to Start -> Run and type: regedit

You need to fix in this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \
CurrentControlSet \ Control \ Class \ (4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318)

In the right column, delete values Upperfilters and Lowerfilters. Restart your computer and you should be free to "lose" your CD drive again.

The popular CDGONE patch. CD drives may vanish in Windows Explorer, Device Manager, etc. if a third-party CD-burning package has been uninstalled and Registry references for some code modules aren?t removed successfully. This patch and a reboot usually will restore the missing drives.
