How do I tell what process owns a file?

Hi friends,

I am facing an issue with my computer early everything was working fine but today when i try to delete one file which was there on my desktop over here i got a message as

Cannot delete .metadata\:Access is denied.Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I have try to find it that the same file is not write - protected and my disk is also not full and i am using Windows XP SP 2. Can anyone tell me what would be the issue ?

Try to press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and in the Application tab check out does that file is being used or not. At the same time also check it out in process tab does any of the application or process is being using that file if you find any unwanted process end those process to by pressing delete key. Then again try to delete that same file hope now you should be able to delete that file.

I was also facing such kind of issue and at last i came to know that my file was being infected by virus and it has effected my whole computer and at last i need to format all of my drivers and reinstall my Operating system and then everything was working fine. Hope reinstalling your operating systems would solve your problem.
