    Problem with dual boot

    Hello I have a problem. I have windows XP and I installed windows 7 on dual boot and after that I have removed the windows 7 but the boot menu is still there. I have tried every thing but it was no use.

    Here is my boot.ini:
    Code:
    ;
    ;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
    ;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
    ;
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
    I don't know what is the problem.

    Try the following method - it worked for me

    How to remove the Vista Windows Boot Manager from windows XP

    Before attempting any of the following make a restore point
    1. Open up my computer with all hidden files and file extensions visible.
    2. Cut and paste the following items into a separate folder or partition:
    Boot (hidden folder)
    Bootmgr
    Bootsect.bak
    Boot.ini
    Boot.bak
    3. Rename Bootsect.bak to bootsect.dos and copy back to the My Computer folder.
    4. Copy the boot.ini file back to the My Computer folder and then open with notepad.
    5. Remove all the following lines from the reference and save ensuring it is not set as read only.
    ;
    ; Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
    ; Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
    ;
    6. Restart the system and you should be able to go straight into Windows XP without having to go through Windows Boot Manager.
    7. After windows has finished loading you should be able to format the partition that Vista was installed to (ensure that the backup copies you made first are not on this partition).
    8. If successful then it would be advisable to set another restore point.

    How to Remove Windows 7 Leaving Windows XP on Dual Boot System

    • Boot up in Windows XP desktop.
    • Insert the Windows 7 DVD installation disc into DVD-ROM optical drive.
    • Alternatively, mount the Windows 7 DVD ISO image on any virtual drive.
    • Run Command Prompt, or click directly to Start menu -> Run command.
    • In the command prompt write the following command and hit Enter:

      [DVD Drive Letter]:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force
    • For example,

      If the DVD drive path is D:, then enter the following:

      D:\boot\bootsect.exe /nt52 ALL /force
    • The step will remove the boot menu to select operating system to start.
    • Remove the DVD disc and restart the computer.
    • The computer will boot up with Windows XP installation partition.
