Beeping on computer every few seconds

One of my friend is using Windows XP and today he got a strange problem with it. He gets a single beep from the computer, then about 5 seconds later he gets another single beep, and so it continues. After rebooting it a few times, it worked for a little while, than he got a blue screen saying something about a hard drive reading error or dick read error,etc.. Need some help from you all guys regarding the same. Please help us out from this beeping on computer every few seconds.

You may have a failed hard drive, motherboard, or power supply. Also make sure that you have not dislodged the video card from its slot. Remove the power plug from the back of the PC and the monitor cable. Now take a soft rubber or eraser and carefully remove and clean the golden edge of each memory stick. Make you don't touch the golden edge of the memory stick.Control with a stick while the power of PC remembers to run between the turn of the memory modules. If you had a power surge it could cause all to be unusable.

May be the RAM problem. Try RAM out of other computer and also try and change the clock setting to 100mhz and see if that works. Also try removing the hardrive and return making sure that cables are in correct slots and pressed in firmly, remove the ram sticks, clean with dry duster, return, check all cables are seated correctly. Also go to the web site of the motherboard manufacturer and search the site for beep codes. Hope works for you. If not than let me know the exact details of the beeps.

Most probably the cause of frequent beeping will be something losse/fault RAM or VGA or cpu fan failure. You may have a seized cooling fan on the processor.Your problem lies deep inside the CMOS. All chips associated with the CMOS will likely have to be replaced.

Normally 5 beeps is bad news ... the processor or motherboard is damaged

1: Remove power and strip the machine down.
2: Rebuild basics only for test

    A: Motherboard + ram + gpu

B: Confirm cpu is accurately fitted and artic silver 5 is used and heatsink correctly fitted

C: Connect vga cable and then power to motherboard ... short the pins required to start unit (refer to motherboard manual)

    This is basic test style.

Now if the beep has disappeared then the issue was poor contact between cpu and motherboard ... rarely this might happen but Ive seen styrofoam or other foreign objects get in places where it shouldn't have ... I didn't do it, lol

If beep has not then new cpu or motherboard is required.
