Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 provides cumulative roll-up updates for customer reported issues found after the release of Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. In addition, this release provides security improvements, and prerequisite feature support for .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1, and .NET Framework 3.5.

To install NetFx20SP1_x86.exe, follow the steps below :

1. Open Netfx20a_x86.msi file in ORCA.

2. Go InstallExecuteSequence and delete

“CA_BlockDirectInstall_Cartman_MSI_x86_enu.3643236F_FC70_11D3_A536_0090278A1BB8” row, then save the file and exit ORCA.

3. Then Open Command Prompt, type the following

Netfx20a_x86.msi VSEXTUI=1 REBOOT=ReallySuppress PATCH="e:\a\PreXP.msp;e:\a\CLR.msp;e:\a\NetFX_Core.msp;e:\a\DW.msp;e:\a\ASPNET.msp;e:\a\NetFX_Other.msp;e:\a\WinForms.msp;e:\a\NetFX_CA.msp;e:\a\CRT.msp".

Now a new Netfx20a_x86.msi is been created.

Every time either Windows Automatic Update or Microsoft Automatic Update set-up--i.e.

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 Security Update for Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, and Windows XP x86 (KB979909)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB982167)
Security Update for .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 and 3.5 SP1 on Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB983583)
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Framework 2.0 SP2 Update for Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP x86 (KB982524)

they all fail. Moreover, they all keep repeating and with 0kbs or 0MBs, and in an instance I receive the above list of failures.

Are you running Windows XP SP2 or SP3? Try running the Patch Registration Cleanup Tool - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976220

If no joy, then run the .NET Setup Verification Tool to see if the installed .NET Frameworks can be Verified as properly installed - http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/arc...3/8999004.aspx

My IIS server is not working, I wanted to repair "Microsoft .NET framework 2.0 Service Pack 2" and received a message that the file "netfx20a_x86.msi" is not found.
Then I tried to find the all " *.msi " files in all directories of my computer. There is no a file named "netfx20a_x86.msi" among .msi files. While searching the lost file name in Google I met TechArena. To Download File : NetFx20SP1_x86.exe which is mentioned by Yaropolk (Member) will bring "netfx20a_x86.msi" file or not. İf not is there any other suggestion.

Hi, I have a very similar error to arkanturk when I try and open a Word template on one particular XP SP3 laptop. I get the error:
.NET Runtime version 2.0.50727.3623 - Fatal Execution Engine Error (7A05ADE0)(80131506) which leads to me to believe I have to repair .NET Framework 2.0. I've done what adi003 recommends, and to try and make sure there is nothing wrong on that side, deleted his profile (He's getting his mail merge data from Business Contact Manager in 2007). But still no luck. All other users are on XP SP3, Office 2007 and have the same .NET Frameworks installed - 1.1, 2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2 & 3.5 SP1. I like beer too and this is driving me to it!

I was also facing this similar kind of problem and it (luckily) went away by installing 3.5 SP1, which bumps your runtime to version 2.0.50727.3053. There is a nice version of summary points given here, if you would like to check. Some people even claimed it was the antivirus.
