How to disable kerberos in Vista

I wanted to share my printer on network and therefore I opt for the same application that I use to print from other pc. So I have to check box with kerberos authentication on server setting but and if i choose another then I will have to disable it with cups.conf but I dont know how to do that. So can anyone please tell me how to disable kerberos in Vista? Thank you

Re: How to disable kerberos in Vista

In order to stop a newly upgraded (2.6 --> 9) system from asking about Kerberos on bootup, mount the upgraded root filesystem on /a (or in the case of Live Upgrade, as /.alt.<BE-Name>). Then go to /a/etc/rc2.d and comment out the section at the bottom of S30sysid.net (make a copy first) that runs the kerberos setup:

    ## if [ -x /usr/sbin/sysidkrb5 ]
    ## then
    ## /usr/sbin/sysidkrb5
    ## fi

This will skip asking about it. Once the system is up, you can run /usr/sbin/sysidkrb5 manually to set the policy. After that, you can put your original S30sysid.net back.

Re: How to disable kerberos in Vista

Sometimes you may need to temporarily disable Kerberos authentication and use NTLM instead, for example when you are trying to troubleshoot authentication issues with a server or network device. Here's a quick tip on how you can force your XP machine to use NTLM instead of Kerberos when authenticating with the server or device: use the IP address of the server or device instead of its Service Principal Name (SPN). For example, you could map a network drive to \\ and this will force NTLM instead of Kerberos to be used when authenticating the connection. For more information on SPNs, see http://technet2.microsoft.com/window....mspx?mfr=true.
