OS supported by Intel 64 bit processors

Which are the OS supported by Intel 64 bit processors? I want help guys, I'm new to computers and i cannot understand what is the difference. I have Intel 64-bit [core2duo] processor and i had normal P4 processor beforw, both support Windows XP OS. Am i getting something wrong here? Please help!

Processors are hardware device which need software so that user can interact with the hardware. OS is a hardware. Old OS will work on the newer hardware but there are less chances of newer OS to work on older hardware. Generally OS are of 32-bits and 64-bits. Now if you use 32-bit OS, it will work on 32-bit processor as well as 64-bit processor but in 32-bit mode. 64-bit OS will not work on 32-bit processor. I hope you now have some basic understanding.

OS supported by Intel 64 bit processors are :
All the 32-bit OS and All the 64-bit OS. Well the only OS that intel 64-bit processor doesn't official support is Apple's Mac OS. Core2Duo Based Macs are available but you cannot install Mac on Intel PC.
