Hey guys, I forgot the password for my admin account on windows server 2008, i wonder if there is anyway to recover this without formatting the system, i can't format the system now its having really necessary documents on desktop. Any utility to correct this problem ? Please help me if have any idea about this problem.

I will show you how to successfully reset to Windows server 2008.
The solution is a two stage process. The first stage is preparation and requires the use of PING (Partimage is not ghost) which is a linux environment that can run off of a disc. You need to download the PING image and burn it to a disc before continuing.

You can make a Windows password Recovery Tool disk to reset your password:

1. Login to a computer that can link to Internet. Download windows login recovery and install it on that PC. Note that: there is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to a CD or a USB flash drive.

2. Get out the newly created CD/USB and insert it to the locked computer.

3. re-booted the locked computer (it's necessary for you to change your computer's Setup to make it boot from CD drive or USB drive) and then followed the process of instructions. Just a few steps, the old password was removed.

I tried Reset Windows Password bootable CD. It works great…took me less than 5 mins from downloading & burning the .iso file to resetting password on the faulty vista notebook. Hope it works for some of you!

Sorry for awaking the old thread, but i know many people have this problem.

Reset Windows Server 2008 local administrator password is easy, just as the post above said. But the problem is that- losing Windows 2008 domain password i had met. Quite sad for unkowning how to do, i don't want to reinstall my server……

For Windows server 2008 password recovery, you can follow the steps:

Step1. Google Windows Password Recovery Corporation, download and install in any available computer.
Step2. Create a bootable CD/DVD or USB flash drive. (A blank CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive is needed)
Step3. BIOS set. Boot computer from the created CD/DVD/USB Flash Drive and set BIOS setup.
Step4. Reset Windows server 2008 or 2008R2 password to Re123456.

MMM... You can have a try Windows Password Rescuer Advanced, it can reset 2008/2003 admin password offline. If it do not work, I cannot help you else

I have tried Password Changer. It doesn't work..I eventually change my admin password using Password Recovery Bundle from top-password. I guess that Password Changer doesn't support domain password resetting on Windows Server 2008.
