Follow this way to edit the host file and see you have any problem
    Open the folder C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\
Right-click and open the Host file
When requested for the program give Notepad now append the following line to the bottom of the text: "206.16.13.87 gls.ddo.com
quit the file by clicking the X button in the upper right corner and save the changes.

To edit your HOSTS file you can create a custom Desktop or Quick Launch shortcut.
    C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\etc\HOSTS
    else
put a Notepad shortcut in your Send To folder
Start> Run type sendto File > New > Shortcut
    now in the command line
highlight and paste C:\WINDOWS\NOTEPAD.EXE and then simply right-click on the HOSTS file and select: SendTo > Notepad

Re: Editing hosts file end up with error

i always edit my host file like this and i don't have any problem yte
    Open the hosts file
modify and save the hosts file
type a new line at the bottom of the file.
use your server IP address and your site domain in–place of the defaults like this
    124.124.124.124 domainname.com
    124.124.124.124 www.domainname.com

Quit the Hosts file and save it when requested.you can see and publish to your web site using your domain name. After few days, you may need to cancel this alternation. and you can confirm that domain name is now resolving without issues.
